Marigold (Tagetes patula)

marigold

It’s been a while since I last seen Marigold (Tagetes patula). It was commonly planted in our school campus back in my hometown but what we had back then is the plain yellow flower. This one is also the dwarf variety. I presume what we had back then is the native variety while this one that we have seen yesterday in the Agro-Trade Fair for Araw ng Dabaw is a crossbreed of some other varieties. This plant is an effective insect repeller due to its unpleasant smell.

  2. A beautiful shot! Very crisp.
My Dad always planted these when I was growing up. They were a childhood favorite.

  3. In Norway we only call this pretty flower Tagetes. And I have often used it to keep the insects away from other plants. Your shot of it is beautiful – and in the colour I usually buy, that lovely autumn yellow!

  5. Hi … Your marigold is the prettiest I’ve seen. The spots on it make it more attractive.
