Energy efficient

By acelyn On May 31st, 2010

One of my latest craze…flipping through Real Living magazine. Reading Good Housekeeping isn’t enough to make me busy at times so I started buying Real Living. Both are published by the same publishing company – Summit Publishing – one of the companies owned by the Gokongwei’s (my former employer) so there’s something that connects me to both magazines. I love all Summit Media’s magazines including the Entrepreneur that I used to read some years back.

Anyway, what I like with Real Living is the tips and ideas for the home. I may not be able to do all decorating ideas because of my limited resources but at least it brings me to another perspective. It broadens my horizon especially in making the home a cozy one. Seeing those featured houses inspires me, especially those homes that are standing for decades. Some houses are even designed for energy efficiency with their engineers who have undergoneĀ weatherization training. The design and materials used have been well planned to for it to cost-effective in power consumption for the owners. This would nice to do in our future house. Hope the engineers of the subdivision developers have undergone such training.

We have moved!

By acelyn On April 20th, 2010

We have moved from the apartment to this new rented place in a subdivision far from downtown area and much farther from Ace’ workplace. We moved here last weekend but until now we’re not settled yet. There’s a lot of things to arrange and put away but I am not yet halfway done for I am prioritizing my work. I go online instead of cleaning and arranging our things because I need to catch up with work. Still, there’s a lot of things that we need to organize everything so we can’t just pursue with our project now. However, if there’s a really great deal, I guess we could buy silver bullion for an investment. For sure it could help us a lot in the future. But for the meantime, that has to be pushed aside.

Looking for another place

By acelyn On October 14th, 2009

A close friend is currently renting a flat in a kinda exclusive subdivision and she is now asking for help to look for another place that she could rent out because the unit she’s renting now has no kitchen. It’s actually a studio type pad just good for couple. Now she wanted to move to a house or a flat that has kitchen so she may be able to continue her cooking sessions that she hasn’t done since she moved in. We recommended the newly built apartment units near us but she doesn’t want the environment. She wanted something like where she’s living now – so peaceful (of course because it’s an exclusive subdivision). Finding the right apartment for that friend needs a lot of effort because we need to scout each place that possibly has an apartment units for rent because it’s not like looking forĀ Houston apartments that could be accessed online and viola, she could select what unit, style and location she wanted. Oh well, speaking of a “poor” country like ours.
