1 of 365: New Year’s day in Paradise Island

By acelyn On January 9th, 2010

Majestic Mt. Apo

We deviated from the usual tradition of welcoming the new year in the comfort of our home or celebrating with relatives back in our hometown. PILs chose to celebrate the holidays in MILs hometown and in Dumaguete City hence we missed them in this occasion. The whole family (except of course from my late mother) went to Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort – a five-minute boat ride from Davao City – in the afternoon of December 31st. We don’t know what to expect in celebrating new year at a resort so we were stunned as we watch fireworks display from the nearby resort. I am not ready for a fireworks shoot as I haven’t read how to go about it so we had not-so-good fireworks photo. I know I should use a tripod because I’ve been shooting on slow shutter speed but I don’t know why I never stood from my post and get the tripod. Maybe I don’t wanna miss a minute or two of the grand fireworks display. I think I even told Ace to use tripod when he got the camera from me but he, too, doesn’t want to stand up from where he is seated while watching just to get the tripod.

What’s great in spending the night in the nearby island facing Davao City is the stunning view of the majestic Mt. Apo – the highest peak in the country- that will greet you early in the morning. Such a great view to start the day and the year!

Graduation Thank You Card

Graduation Thank You Card

I should have given my mentors, my friends, my parents, aunts and uncles, including my grandparents with personalized College Graduation Thank You Cards for them to know that I am so grateful for their love and support -morally and financially – to survive the university life and graduated with flying colors. I know they are aware how thankful I am for everything that they have done to make my college life successful. Anyway, I will just bear that in mind should I have my own kids. Hopefully I won’t miss getting thank you cards for them to give out to special people that have been part of their school life since http://www.graduationcardsshop.com have a lot of thank you cards to choose from. Aside from graduation thank you cards, GraduationCardsShop has various cards such as  high school graduation thank you card, preschool graduation party thank you cards.

If you’ve been looking for anything that I just mentioned, check out the site and I am pretty sure you will enjoy shopping for thank you cards. However, if you are in a hurry, don’t panic because they print and ship your order the SAME DAY it is approved. The cards could be personalized for you can add a photo, picture or logo to any card on their site. Thank you cards is one great way to let others know that you are so grateful for their presence in your life especially during tough times being a student.

Christmas Card

By acelyn On November 10th, 2009

Christmas Card

The first Christmas Card we ever received as husband and wife, and the first Christmas Card I received after so many years. This came to our mail last year from a very dear friend Mommy Arlene. Days after, I bought cards to be sent out to friends but lazy bug hit me that I wasn’t able to mail it. Maybe I could use those cards this year. Anyway it has no expiration.LOL.

December is a few weeks from now so we are expecting for series of Christmas Parties. But of course, Christmas invitations won’t be missed out so people will feel they are really invited.hahaha. For us who aren’t celebrating Christmas, we still accept invitations and we join parties. We just don’t celebrate that Christmas is the birth of Christ.

Ate Janet's birthday cake

We were at Ate Janet’s (our wedding godmother) birthday party the other night. As expected, we didn’t let this event pass without taking lots of photos and here’s one of them….Ate Janet’s elegant birthday cake! It’s simply beautiful that I forgot to ask her who made it.

Gaisano Mall’s decorations and special effects on special occassions don’t really amuse me ever but this one did get me. Nice huh, seems like I’m in other planet (because it’s the first time I saw they did something nice).*LoL*

Roses and tealights

By acelyn On February 12th, 2009

Where would our Valentine’s day be spent? In one of New York City hotels. Just kidding. We don’t actually go on a date on Valentine’s day because everybody’s out and we don’t want to add chaos to the busy restaurants, fast foods, movie houses, bars, etc. Besides, Ace is not gifted with a romantic heart so the day would pass by like an ordinary day. I swear, we never had a date (just the two of us) and never got anything from him during Valentine’s day since then so I am not expecting one this time. As I have said, he is not romantic. That explains everything. The last time we were at the market, I was joking to him I will buy myself bunch of roses on V day so that my day would be complete. Seriously, I would buy flowers (if earnings will be sent before that day) and some tealights to decorate the house so I’ll have nice subjects to photograph.hahaha. I hope that makes sense.

Nine days to go and it will be Ace’ birthday. For years, he was celebrating it with a family dinner in a buffet restaurant. This year I wanted him to experience a different special day…which means, no dinner at a buffet restaurant. I was planning to throw a small party for him so he could invite his officemates and friends. Read the rest of this entry »

Unique edible Christmas centerpiece

By acelyn On December 19th, 2008

Just another unique Christmas centerpiece. The idea is to create an edible Christmas centerpiece so the Christmas balls are mixed with the fruits and veggies. :-) Anyway, you might want to try it at home to create a more festive look at your table. Happy holidays!
