Cobalt Rings or Cobalt Wedding Bands

By Kerslyn On March 15th, 2012

The newest white metal in the jewelry market is cobalt wedding bands. Cobalt has been considered a band word in the jewelry industry for the last decade but that is now changing. In the past cheap jewelry manufacturers would use cobalt as the binder of their tungsten rings. This became a problem because the mixture was weak and the cobalt would actually oxidize to your skin. This discoloration and skin irritation made cobalt to be a very weak material. Things have changed with cobalt chrome rings. When cobalt is mixed with chrome the mixture doesn’t oxidize to your skin.

Now when you have the chance to look at wedding bands engagement rings you should realize that the type of metal you choose will have a large impact on how the ring will hold up for you in the future. If you love gold but are allergic to nickel you should avoid white gold or tungsten. If you like white metals but don’t want to spend a fortune on your ring you will probably want to choose a cobalt ring. These are just a few tips I have from my experience over the years in the jewelry business.

Wednesday Whites: Wedding Candle

By Kerslyn On February 8th, 2012

We’ve been to a lot of weddings and I love how hubby captures the details. Here’s one of the wedding candles during my BIL’s sister’s wedding more than a year ago. This is not the unity candle, just one of the candle sponsors lit during the ceremony.
