Hobby = Addicting + Expensive

By acelyn On January 6th, 2009

We are photography hobbyists and we find it painful on the pocket especially if it’s a quite expensive hobby. For us, we find photography addicting yet expensive especially if there’s no return of investment. Expensive for us who barely had extra money left after all the bills have been paid but for those who earns so much and don’t even know how and where to spend their riches, engaging in expensive hobby doesn’t hurt their bank accounts that much. Join the 2008 photograph of the year contest

By acelyn On December 21st, 2008

Being into photography is a lot of fun…and a lot of expenses too. If we sum up all our expenses for this hobby, we might have started building a house and it must have been a quarter done. However, the satisfaction we get from photography is priceless much more if our photos are recognized. We may not gain from photography by engaging into photography business but we could join photo contests and I am just glad I bumped into PhotographyCornerdotcom while searching for photography-related sites. What kept me interested with PhotographyCorner is the contest it is holding such as the 2008 Photograph of the Year with approximately $11,500 worth of prizes! Yes, that’s big bucks so I wouldn’t have a second thought in joining some of our best photos. Who knows, one of it will bag even just the lowest prize. This is good news for all photo enthusiasts. Check out the site and find out how to join. See your photos there! :-)

Weekend Snapshot: Christmas Balls

By acelyn On December 8th, 2008

We’re not celebrating Christmas but since PILs do celebrate it, we bought some decors (just balls and lights) last year. This year, I will be using it again to decorate the house. I dug it in the box yesterday where Che2x kept it and will be putting it in place this afternoon after taking a nap.

Happy WS! Visit Weekend Snapshot for more entries.

First dance

By acelyn On December 2nd, 2008

Our first wedding photo opportunity was during Ace’ sister’s wedding. Actually, it’s his day with our Canon 400D. Haven’t got hold of the cam during the event…ever! Ace did not undergo any photography class and I was only sharing to him what I learned from my basic photography class and from my readings. Most of the photos turned out fine while others are out of focus. Well, he’s still learning. And it’s hard to shoot people especially if they’re mobile. Anyway, here’s our favorite photo…the couple’s first dance with the smoke effects.

Weekend at Canibad

By acelyn On November 24th, 2008

One weekend was spent in the beach….my favorite place to relax. This was taken at Canibad Beach, one of the undeveloped white sand (actually its pebbles) beaches in Island Garden City of Samal.

Sky view from the southern part of Cebu

By acelyn On October 24th, 2008

Land trip to the southern part of Cebu is very eye satisfying with the old churches of almost every town at the right and the beautiful seaside scenery on the left. We intentionally positioned ourselves in the driver’s side in the bus to have a glimpse of the coastal scenes like this one. The reflection of the bus’ glass window is disturbing but I could not think of ways to avoid it aside from the circular polarizer that I have put in the lens. Whatever it looked, it is still a beautiful photo with the sweeping clouds higher in the sky and the cottony cloud formations in the distance.

Sky Watch Friday: Mr. Sun’s smile

By acelyn On September 18th, 2008

Photography has become my passion and my favorite subjects, anything in nature. Frankly speaking, I had a hard time taking photos of people. I felt like I don’t know how to properly shoot human subjects because I am more into landscapes and nature. Hence, I am always looking forward for this day so that I can share my photos. Here’s one of the best photos I took last sunrise shoot in Sta. Ana Wharf, Davao City. I say one of the best because I have numerous BEST photos.LOL. It’s really hard to choose which photo to post. So here’s one of the photos I had printed for the mini exhibit we will be doing in a friend’s coffee house. Wanna see my other photos? Just let me know.

Happy Sky Watch everybody! Visit here for more entries.

Warm Sunset

By acelyn On September 5th, 2008

My sunset photo is here again for most obvious reason - I love sunsets! Here’s a warm before -the-sunset photo taken last month. It’s been quite sometime since I had a sunset shoot due to the weather and I am hoping I could catch it next week ‘coz I already miss my “me and nature” time. I wonder how my sunset shots would look using a CPL. Happy Sky Watch!

August 14 Sunset

By acelyn On August 15th, 2008

What could I say? Nature is so wonderful and unpredictable. After weeks of overcast afternoons, yesterday (August 14) was one of the best. I peeked out of the window if thick clouds are covering the west and I am glad it was not so I grab the Canon 400D and off I went to my favorite sunset watching spot. Many times I have watched the sun going down but no two sunsets are the same even I am in the same place. I wouldn’t get tired of going in the same place over and over again to watch the sun go down. Happy Friday! More of Sky Watchers here. More of sunset photos in my flickr.
