The old piano in Malacañang of the North (Malacañang ti Amianan

This is the old piano in Malacañang of the North (Malacañang ti Amianan) that used to be the official residence of the Marcoses in Ilocos during their regime but is now turned to a museum.

The old piano in Malacañang of the North.

The former first couple Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos must be music lovers that they have this old piano in the mansion. I’ve heard the former first lady sing more than once and I guess it’s one of her talents. With this piano I was reminded of one of my dreams before….to learn how to play one. I took a few piano lessons but seems it’s not my forte. I never learned. And I didn’t pursue it. Hmmm…maybe because I know we cannot afford to have one that time, and what’s the use of pursuing the lessons when getting even an electric keyboard and a keyboard stand would cost my parents that much. Survival is their priority when I was growing up, and I think asking for an electric keyboard would be too much.

  1. A vintage piano !

  2. Wow! The Marcoses really have a taste for beautiful things :) I must say this looks really beautiful. I share your story, piano lessons were not an option for me when I was also growing up. My parents had more important and basic priorities to meet :)
